Health Care Systems Reaction to COVID 19: Lessons Moving Forward
In this session, speakers will describe and discuss the response and experience of healthcare institutions and healthcare systems during COVID-19, and what lessons will be taken forward to ensure continuous readiness and resilience, as well as response to future challenges. The pandemic remains ongoing and health systems’ responsibilities and functions continue to evolve in response to public health needs—including most recently for COVID-19 vaccination campaigns – therefore what success stories can we learn from, and what risks do we need to continue to monitor and address.

Person Centered Care During a Crisis: New Language for Caring?
In this session speakers will discuss how important person-centered care has emerged to be in the Pandemic and how the challenges imposed by COVID-19 are no reason to roll back the tide on person centered care. On the contrary, it is crucial to ensure that efforts to co-design healthcare, use technology, involve families especially in a key role in the care of vulnerable people, and engage patients in decisions are still high on everyone’s agenda and being implemented. Specific attention will be given to the importance to co-create services, and the impact on the gains in higher quality, safer, more appropriate, effective, and efficient care.

In this session the speakers will discuss the key role that quality improvement plays in ensuring that the appropriate systems are in place to always support health care organizations. Specifically, during the crisis, what has the quality improvement science rendered from experiences and what lessons learned have been generated introducing innovations to improvement, response and management of future crisis.

In this session, the speakers will describe the challenges that external quality assessment systems faced during the pandemic, and how the systems were redesigned to achieve the ultimate purpose of supporting healthcare organizations in maintaining and improving the quality of services and ensure the person safety in such crisis, and what will be the role of those systems including regulatory systems in building resilient organizations moving forward.

Healthcare Workers Before and After the Pandemic: THE Priority
In this session the speakers will highlight the importance of always ensuring healthcare workers wellbeing; be it physical mental or social. The discussion delves into education, empowerment, and personalized responses. Experiences and lessons learned during the COVID 19 pandemic will be shared to respond on how we can improve health worker safety, preserve their mental health, and ensure resilient management of healthcare workforce while driving performance.

In this session, the speakers will focus on sharing the importance and impact of using good governance and evidence-based management (EBM) especially during the crisis. This may include how the rules of good governance can be always applied, how the experience with COVID 19 strengthened the need for EBM, and what the pandemic reveals about governance.
