Dr. George Sahyoun

Dr. Sahyoun holds a bachelor’s honors degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Kent at Canterbury, United Kingdom and a PhD in Cancer and Stem Cell research from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom.  After completing his studies, Dr. Sahyoun worked as a researcher at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation (IPI) in Bradford and then went on to specialize in inherited diseases and Metabolic Disorders on a clinical level at St. James Hospital, Leeds, United Kingdom.  Dr. Sahyoun also went on to continue his training in Thessaloniki, Greece in the fields of Genetics and Histocompatibility at Eurogenetica and Papageorgiou Hospital respectively.  Upon returning to Jordan and joining MedLabs in 2009, Dr. Sahyoun was tasked with setting up the first full Newborn Screening program in Jordan, which went on to receive full CAP (College Of American Pathologists) accreditation. Dr. Sahyoun then went on to establish the Molecular and Cytogenetics departments.  As Chief Scientific officer, Dr. Sahyoun was tasked with bringing in new technologies to better serve the community and provide the most accurate results to patients in Laboratory medicine. Dr. Sahyoun is now the director of MedLabs’ Reference Laboratory, Analytical Operations as well as the Chief Scientific officer for the company as a whole.
