
Wendy Lynn Nicklin
With a background in critical care nursing, Wendy taught at Queen’s University and held progressively senior positions at The Ottawa Hospital. She was President and CEO of Accreditation Canada from 2004 - 2016.
Wendy has considerable governance experience, most recently as President of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). Past governance work includes the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada. Currently she serves on the Boards of the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, Hospice Care Ottawa and Salus Global Corporation and is a member of the Committee on Accreditation of Medical Schools. Recently Wendy joined Patients for Patient Safety Canada.
With a strong commitment to effective governance, quality, safety, accreditation and leadership, Wendy has numerous publications to her name and has given many presentations. She has an academic appointment to Queen’s University.
Wendy has a B.N. and M.Sc.(A) from McGill University, is a Fellow of ISQua and a member of the International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care. She is a certified Corporate Director with the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D).

Governance and Leadership
In this session, the speakers will focus on sharing the importance and impact of using good governance and evidence-based management (EBM) especially during the crisis. This may include how the rules of good governance can be always applied, how the experience with COVID 19 strengthened the need for EBM, and what the pandemic reveals about governance.
